The News, Eats & Events Shaping Western New York

Joe Brady has been promoted to head coach of the Buffalo Bills, signing a five-year deal that highlights the franchise’s faith in his leadership and internal talent.

At just 36, Brady is credited with guiding Josh Allen to an AP NFL MVP award in 2024, showcasing their successful partnership.

Before rising within Buffalo’s ranks, Brady built his reputation with LSU’s 2019 title-winning offense and as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

In 2025, the Bills’ offense soared under Brady, ranking fourth in the NFL, while James Cook rushed for a league-best 1,621 yards—the first Buffalo player to do so since O.J. Simpson.

Brady replaces Sean McDermott, ending a nine-year tenure, as Bills ownership aims for a long-awaited Super Bowl appearance with fresh leadership.

Amherst residents will have to wait a little longer for the town’s first Costco as the opening is now scheduled for August, following construction delays.

Town Supervisor Shawn Lavin cites persistent bad weather as a key factor, stressing a commitment to quality despite slowed progress.

The much-anticipated Costco, rising on Ridge Lea Road at the former Tony Roma’s location, will be a first for Western New York, bringing new shopping opportunities and services.

An adjacent Dick’s Sporting Goods store is also under construction, with both retailers aiming for a joint August opening.

To manage increased traffic, the town is realigning Romney Road at North Bailey Avenue and adding modern traffic signals at strategic points.

Despite delays, excitement remains high for the economic boost, jobs, and expanded retail the new development will offer.
